Schick nominated for the barrage! Šilhavý nominated also Krejčí II. and Lingr

The Czech national football team will have to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar in March. If they get past Sweden, they would then face Poland. Which squad has Jaroslav Šilhavý chosen for the barrage?

The Czech national team has a chance to play at the World Cup after a long time. Its only participation in the final championship was in 2006, since then it has not even made it to the barrage.

Jaroslav Šilhavy’s team will play Sweden at Friends Arena on Thursday 24 March at 20:45. The winner of this duel will play Poland.

“The team will meet on Monday, have two training sessions and fly to Sweden. There will be an official training session and match. The following schedule will depend on the outcome of the duel,” said Libor Sionko, the team manager, at a press conference.

A big question mark was the return of Patrik Schick, who finally made it to the nomination after his recovery. The position of left-back was also very uncertain, and it was expected that the great David Jurásek from Slavia would not get the first nomination. In the end he will go with U21, Šilhavý will rely on Aleš Matějů or Jaroslav Zelený.

There are also problems on the right side of the defence. Vladimír Coufal will not be able to play, Pavel Kadeřábek has finished his national team career.

Šilhavý nominated two newcomers, Ladislav Krejčí II and Ondřej Lingr. In attack he will choose from the foursome of Adam Hložek, Jan Kuchta, Ondřej Lingr and Patrik Schick.

In goal, Tomas Vaclik, Jiri Pavlenka and Jindrich Stanek are available. Neither goalie from Slavia, Ales Mandous nor Ondrej Kolar will play. Jakub Brabec, Aleš Matějů, Tomáš Petrášek, David Zima and Jaroslav Zelený are available in defence.

Two players will still be called up, at least one of them will definitely be a defender, Šilhavý said at the press conference.
