Leverkusen had a difficult last period, they didn’t manage to score much, scoring 2 times in the last 3 Bundesliga games. On top of that, Leverkusen players had a tough schedule. On Thursday evening they turned the unfavourable result of the match with Celtic Glasgow from 1: 2 to 3: 2 and celebrated 3 points in the Europa League table.
In Sunday’s game, which decided whether Leverkusen would run away from Leipzig on a 6 point difference or whether Leipzig would close the gap on Leverkusen, the visiting Leverkusen players performed excellently.
Already at half-time they were leading 2:0 after goals by Wirtz and Diaby. Diaby could have scored 2 goals, but his goal was called back by VAR in the 8th minute.
Jeremie Frimpong, only 20 years old, played the whole game for Leverkusen and scored his first Bundesliga goal in the 64th minute. This young defender played his second full match and is a very promising prospect not only for Leverkusen but also for the Dutch national team.
Patrik Schick played 62 minutes and it’s great to have him back from injury. Leverkusen’s next game is on Saturday 4 December at home against Fürth. The prospects of gaining points are promising, Fürth are languishing at the bottom of the table with one point gained in 13 games played.
