On Sunday evening, the Puma Footballer of the Year Gala took place, where Patrik Schick received the award for the best footballer from the Czech Republic. On this occasion, he was naturally asked about Adam Hložek, who is expected to join him at Leverkusen from the new season. What did he say?
Patrik Schick has had the season of his life, in which he broke several not only individual but also club records. He became the second top scorer in the Bundesliga and earned himself a new long-term contract at Leverkusen.
His performances for the club and the national team earned him the award for the best footballer in the Czech Republic. Well deserved. Moreover, he could welcome one of his compatriots to Leverkusen from the new season.
Adam Hložek, the biggest talent here, is heading to Leverkusen. Nothing is official yet, it is said that only the details need to be fine-tuned, although Sevilla joined the battle for the Sparta jewel at the last minute.
Schick admitted when accepting the award for the best footballer of the year that he was asked about Hložek in Germany. Not on qualities, but mainly on character. Of course, he recommended the native of Ivančice in Moravia to his club.
He also took the opportunity to hint at what was in store for Hložek: “He is going to learn German, unfortunately I can’t help him much with that, but in the final it’s all the same everywhere. You can say that the same things are being trained everywhere, only the quality will be a bit higher.”
“But he’ll have me there, I’ll try to make it easier for him. Plus we have a Fino-Slovak captain there who speaks Slovak, that will definitely help him too. I think Adam has the quality to make it. It’s up to him. If he shows it on the pitch, he will fit into the team faster,” added the best Czech footballer.
