Schick: I don’t recall any of their chances. I had the feeling the whole time that we were in control of the game

Patrik Schick was the key man in the Czech national team’s win over Belarus. He contributed a goal and an assist, but he believes that more goals could have been scored.
Schick opened the scoring in the 22nd minute when he scored with a volley after a centre by Sadilek. In the 65th minute, he headed the ball to the middle of the pitch, passed it to Hložek, who increased the score to 2:0.
“I like to take it to the centre on my left. The Belarusian team was pretty much on their own, so there wasn’t much space to shoot behind the whitewash. But at least there was space for me to pass to Hložan. He hit it nicely,” Schick described his assist to Deník Sport.
The Czechs need to win and score as many goals as possible to get a better score than Wales. Two goals is not a bad thing, but it could have been more.
However, Jaroslav Šilhavy’s men had no problems with Belarus. Scorer Patrik Schick had the same feeling.
“I had the feeling that we were in control of the game and we didn’t let the opponent do anything. Even though it was only 1:0 for a long time, I still believed that we would add more goals. I wasn‘t afraid, I don’t remember any of their chances,” Schick is sure.
The Czechs, however, are playing into the hands of Wales, who only managed to beat Estonia 1:0. At the moment both teams have 11 points, Czechs have 12::9, Wales 8::7. However, Bale and co. have a match to play, they will face Belarus and Belgium, the Czechs will challenge Estonia.
