Bayer Leverkusen have officially secured qualification to the Champions League in the penultimate round! They can no longer lose the third place from which they entered Europe’s most prestigious club competition.
Bayer won the promotion on Saturday at Hoffenheim when Czech striker Patrik Schick was the hero of the match, scoring two goals and adding an assist. He could have scored for the third time just before the substitution, but unfortunately missed the goal from a great chance by a whisker.
Schick scored for the first time in the 34th minute when he sent the ball into the net after a Diaby half-volley to level the game at 1-1.
For Leverkusen’s second goal, Schick cleverly played the ball to Diaby, who sent the ball into the net to tie the game at 2-2. The Czech striker then scored the winning goal in the 76th minute when he dealt with two really difficult situations in a small area.
Schick played 84 minutes and was replaced by Sinkgraven. The whole match was then played by Czech full-back Pavel Kadeřábek, who scored an assist and had a very active performance.
The Czech striker has 24 league goals, 10 behind Robert Lewandowski. Behind Schick is Erling Haaland with 21 goals.
