Madridistas get ready, this will be your new home for decades to come. Real Madrid have decided to renovate their stadium and Santiago Bernabéu will soon be enveloped in a new look.
Alecaom, an expert in 8k videos, posted a drone video on his YouTube channel of what the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu currently looks like from a bird’s eye view. And it’s a luxurious sight.
The stadium roof, which will be retractable, is practically finished on the sides, with only the centre to be finished. The outer façade has also been worked on and there’s not much left.
The video also shows a nice shot of Madrid’s Chamartín district, in which the majestic stadium is set, where 80 000 fans of the most successful football club in history regularly gather.
Work is progressing as expected and should be fully ready by the end of this season. The inaugural ribbon is expected to be cut in the summer of 2023 to celebrate the transformation of the legendary stadium.
Until now, the Bernabéu has been iconic for its four towers that rise at the corners of the stadium. Although the new Bernabéu will lose those, Florentino Pérez is planning a spectacular super-modern stadium, which he has described as the best in the world.
In fact, the Nuevo Santiago Bernabéu is not just counting on Los Blancos games to make a living. Inside you will find, for example, a large department store with luxury clothing brands or a Michelin-starred restaurant.
In addition, the Chamartín area of Madrid will host NFL, NBA, tennis, concerts and esports competitions. All of this will be provided by the outdoor areas that are currently being installed.
This is what the overall project should look like when completed.
