Sancho doesn’t shine in Dortmund (yet)! Can he revive his fading career?
Jadon Sancho is trying to relaunch his career at Dortmund after a difficult six months at Manchester United, when he didn’t start at all. Unfortunately, the performance is still not what he would have liked. That’s not the way the big clubs are going to go after him in the summer.

As soon as the media started speculating about a possible return of the Englishman to Dortmund, from where he entered world football, the internet experienced nostalgia. Articles or videos from Sancho’s first stint at Dortmund started appearing on every website.
The social network TikTok seemed to be swept away by a hurricane and everyone was editing Sancho in a Borussia jersey. Perhaps due to the influence of social networks and fans, the potential homecoming just worked out. Apart from the story side, however, everyone is interested in the sporting side.
Will Sancho be a star on German turf again, or will he follow up his failed Manchester United engagement? The player must also be affected by the six-month break he (un)forcedly underwent.
Sancho at Dortmund
The first game Sancho started was against Darmstadt. It wasn’t easy for the English winger, after the break he came on in a 1: 0 draw. However, the scenario was like something out of a movie. Sancho came on in the 55th minute and assisted Marco Reus’ goal in the 77th minute. Borussia won 3: 0.
A week later, Dortmund travelled to Cologne. The Englishman appears in his second match in the starting line-up. At the beginning of the 2nd half he won a penalty after a foul on his person, which was safely converted by Niclas Füllkrug. Fans immediately speculated whether the German striker might have given the penalty to Sancho.
Against Bochum in the next match, Sancho was not missing from the starting line-up again. In the end it was a 3: 1 win with the English winger playing 82 minutes. Not once in the first 3 matches did Sancho play full minutes, but his match rating always reached at least 7.0, even 7.8 against Cologne.
Sancho did not play against Heidenheim due to a muscle injury. In the next game against Freiburg he came on for the last 3 minutes with the score 3:0. He played 78 minutes against Wolfsburg and did not score a goal or an assist. He also finished the game with a rating of 6.8.
Even in the Champions League his performance was not enough
In the opening game of the Champions League eight-final, the Englishman came on in the 67th minute and it was his worst game in the black and yellow jersey so far. PSV at least got a draw thanks to a disputed penalty. It must be said that his teammates did not deliver many passes.
An exemplary situation took place around the 60th minute, when Malen pulled a quick counter-attack on the right, Sancho sprinted all alone on the left, but the Dutch winger blocked the chance and the ball was eventually taken away from him.
Jadon Sancho has 333 minutes and one assist for Dortmund. This is certainly not the style he envisioned for his return. If he is looking for another quality engagement at the end of the season, he should reawaken his productivity. At the moment, it is not sure if “his” Dortmund would still want him.
