Arsenal are close to a new addition to the defensive line. They have agreed a transfer fee with Brighton for Ben White, now they just need to agree with the player himself.

Arsenal’s defence has been one of the worst in recent years. They lead the charts in errors leading to goals and it’s the stoppers who have the biggest problems.

Now David Luiz has left the club and Mikel Arteta is looking for a replacement. He’s found one in England international stopper Ben White. His current employer, Brighton, initially rejected two offers, but has already agreed to the sum of fifty million pounds.

White made Gareth Southgate’s squad for the European Championships and although he didn’t play, it’s a great achievement to get to a major tournament as a Brighton player.

White is a modern fast stopper with an excellent passing game. He helped Leeds to promotion to the Premier League the season before last and contributed to keeping Brighton among the elite with good performances last season.

White can also deputise in the centre of midfield, which may come in handy after the departure of Dani Ceballos and possibly Granit Xhaka. He can also play at right-back. White is now awaiting a medical.
