A poor Tuesday football schedule will offer a match between Salernitana and Juventus. Both teams are surprisingly separated by only two points, yet they have completely different ambitions. What to expect from the match and what to bet on?
Salernitana have been struggling since the World Cup in Qatar. They have won only one of the last five rounds, and even got an eight from Atalanta. They are still not relegated in the table, with an eight-point lead over the last three from 16th place.
Juventus is recovering from a point deduction for tax fraud, having taken a single point from the last three rounds.
Coincidentally, it has dropped to 13th in the table, seven points behind the top four guaranteeing European Cup qualification.
Salernitana’s key figures
The home side is led by Senegalese international Boulaye Dia, on loan from Villarreal, author of eight goals and four assists. Central midfielder and former Netherlands international Tonny Vilhena has split the net three times and assisted once.
Juventus’ key figures
On the away side, summer signing Angel di Maria made a splash, with the Argentine winger netting three goals and assisting five times. Serbian beater Dusan Vlahovic is not firing as much as last year, yet he is on seven goals and two assists.
Salernitana has the worst defensive record of the league, conceding 38 times, which amounts to almost two goals received per round. It has scored more than once in eight of its last ten games, and has been waiting for a clean sheet for 11 games.
Juventus’ attack is not going well again. It has scored more than once in only two of the last nine games. On the other hand, the Old Lady has managed to win three of the last four away games. Only Napoli has failed.
Considering the good form of world champion di Maria, Juventus’ decent away results and the dysfunctional defensive of Salernitana, we can expect the visitors to manage the match victoriously.
