Sale? Real Madrid is ready to sell four of its stars
After Sergio Ramos still hasn’t signed a new contract with the star Spanish club, Real Madrid came up with a statement that might have surprised their fans. Or maybe not, because it’s no secret that the Spanish giant is trying to rejuvenate its squad.
After Sergio Ramos still hasn’t signed a new contract with the star Spanish club, Real Madrid came up with a statement that might have surprised their fans. Or maybe not, because it’s no secret that the Spanish giant is trying to rejuvenate its squad.
According to the club’s latest statement, Real Madrid is ready to sell four players who have been prominent figures in the White Ballet in previous years and without whom the royal club’s roster would be hard to imagine.
The first player who is already de facto on his way out of the club is Sergio Ramos. The thirty-five-year-old stopper demanded a contract extension for another two years, which, according to all available information, the club’s management did not agree to. Thus, Ramos has still failed to agree on a new contract with Real.
The other player the Madrid outfit is ready to let go is Gareth Bale. According to Spanish daily Marca, Real are willing to let the 31-year-old Welshman go for a reasonable incoming offer. Bale returned from a loan spell at Tottenham London on 30 June, joining the club on 19 September 2020.
The Spanish giant would also like to sell midfielder Isco, who currently has a market value of twenty million euros. His contract at the Santiago Bernabeu expires on 30 June next year, so it is logical that the club will try to get rid of him already in this transfer window.
Well, who else won’t be prevented from leaving by the club from the capital? We are talking about the 33-year-old Brazilian defender. Marcelo’s market value currently stands at just €10 million and, as with the aforementioned midfielder, his contract also expires on 30 June 2022.
Real Madrid are currently in a rejuvenation phase and so we can very realistically expect the departure of these four players.
Although Isco is far from being an old hand, after all he is still only 29 years old, he didn’t feature much in the starting line-up of the White Ballet in the season already passed. In fact, he is more of a substitute player at Real and is not counted on much in the future at the royal club.
The other players, however, are already over thirty years old. Specifically, Bale is 31, Marcelo 33 and Ramos even 35. So it can be said that one great era is slowly but surely coming to an end.
In any case, all of these players have made an indelible mark on the club’s history, having dominated the Champions League four times with Real Madrid alone! Marcelo and Ramos even won the Spanish giant’s top competition five times.
Which clubs will Ramos, Bale, Isco and Marcelo eventually head to? We’ll have to wait until the start of the transfer window to find out. That is, if they actually leave.
