A number of great players from Europe have already headed to Saudi Arabia and we might see one more big transfer, which could be Mohamed Salah. Ittihad Club want to bring him in, having already brought Fabinho from Liverpool. A decision is reportedly due on Monday.

Currently, the leading Saudi Pro League club has brought in four players from Europe, including the aforementioned Fabinho (the club’s most expensive signing to date – €47 million), as well as Jota, Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kanté.

However, the Saudi club has one more megastar in its sights, which is Liverpool’s highest paid player and one of the highest paid players in the world, Mohamed Salah.

According to journalist Rudy Galetti, the decision is now up to Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp, who are expected to make a final decision on Monday on the future of the Egyptian winger, who has been clearly the Reds’ best player in recent years.

The player himself is apparently in favour of a transfer to Saudi Arabia. He has won both the Premier League and the Champions League with Liverpool, where he has been since 2017, so he would love to set off on a new adventure.

Moreover, Liverpool would get a hefty sum for the author of 187 goals in a Reds jersey, which he could further invest. Thus, looking at their narrow squad, this seems like a good option. That’s also why this transfer can be believed to be very likely.

Salah is already 31 years old and has a contract at Anfield until 2025. So an offer of around €100 million might never happen again. That’s something the Reds’ owners could hear about.

Klopp certainly has interesting players in attack, but he has virtually no alternatives in case of injury. With Salah, 30 goals would indeed leave (2022/23 season), but if two new younger players could come in for him, it’s definitely a deal that will weaken the team, but in the long run it should have the opposite effect.

However, Liverpool have tried to bring in a number of players in recent weeks who have ultimately chosen another club. The question remains whether the Reds can find the right quality at the right price in the market, lest they end up like Barcelona after selling Neymar.
