Senegal managed to defeat Cape Verde 2-0 in the eighth round of the African championship. Two Cape Verdean players received red cards, one of which was given to the goalkeeper who collided with Mané.
The clash between Sadio Mané and goalkeeper Vozinha did not go well for either side. The goalkeeper knocked the striker down hard and was sent off. The collision occurred in the 57th minute and Sadio Mané decided to continue after a slight concussion.
In the 63rd minute, the ball reached him and with the help of a crossbar, he got the ball into the Cape Verde goal, which was already playing with only nine players. After a while, however, the previously fouled Mané began to feel dizzy. He asked for a substitution and left the field in the 70th minute.
However, the substitution did not help and Mané’s condition worsened, so he was immediately sent to hospital. The player’s condition improved. Goalkeeper Vozinha visited him in the hospital and apologized to him.
In the set-up, Dieng still scored to send Senegal into the quarter-finals, which are played on Sunday. Mané has a chance to start. Senegal’s coach said the player felt dizzy during the substitution but was fine when he was transported to hospital.
Senegal will play the winner of the Mali-Equatorial Guinea duel in the quarter-finals. On the same evening, Morocco managed to beat Malawi 2-1 and also advanced to the next stage of the tournament.
