Sad Ukraine coach Rebrov: We dropped out because of the first game. Everybody is unhappy with the result, but we are optimistic about the future

Ukraine says goodbye to the European Championship. It is one of the biggest losers, because it got four points, which would have been enough to qualify anywhere else, but it was brought down by the opening game against Romania and the large number of goals scored. Coach Rebrov praised his team after the game.
Ukraine chose Black Peter. The team around stars Andriy Lunin, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Artem Dovbyk is out of the European Championship, although it has won four points.
These should be enough to qualify, but the problem is that all teams have won the same number of points in the group. Ukraine only beat Slovakia and drew with Belgium in their last game.
The tie was broken by the score. They fell 0:3 to Romania and couldn’t make up for it. “Unfortunately, we didn’t qualify because of the first game we lost against Romania.
I am grateful for the way the players reacted against Slovakia. There were a lot of good moments,” Ukrainian coach Serhiy Rebrov said at a press conference.
He was not dissatisfied with the performance of his players at the tournament. “In the last two matches we showed the character of our nation. But that’s life, you make some mistakes, but then it’s important how you react.
I am very proud of the players. Of course everyone is unhappy with the result,” added the former Tottenham and West Ham player.
“I thanked the players for the game and told them that unfortunately we didn’t qualify because of the defeat against Romania. But we have a very young national team and everyone is looking to the future with optimism,” he concluded.
It was Romania who celebrated the first place in the group, finishing ahead of second-placed Belgium and third-placed Slovakia thanks to their match against Ukraine. However, they cannot be too happy about that, as they are going up against the strong Netherlands.
