Running out of patience? Conor McGregor has taken a swipe at the UFC. Afterwards, he asked for another boxing match with a major legend who he says owes him millions

On Saturday night, a big boxing gala was held in Saudi Arabia, where big names from the world of sport were present. For example, Conor McGregor and Cristiano Ronaldo sat next to each other. And it was the Irish fighter who made a big splash for several reasons.
Riyadh became the capital of combat sports on Saturday night. The Saudi Arabian capital was also visited by Conor McGregor, who simply knows how to get attention. He rather failed to do so with Cristiano Ronaldo, next to whom he was seated, as the Portuguese looked annoyed by his speeches.
However, the former two-time UFC champion won the media over for himself. And no wonder. He started arranging his next fight in the first place, even explaining the background and story as to why it made sense. In the second row, he took a rather indiscriminate swipe at the UFC.
McGregor’s last appearance in the cage was in July 2021. That was the second time he was beaten by Dustin Poirier. In that fight, the Irishman broke his leg and took a long time to recover. When he was about to make his comeback, the situation with the anti-doping agency USADA complicated things.
It was the scandal surrounding the star Irishman that apparently led to the UFC and USADA parting ways as of the new year. But would that make it easier for the man who made MMA famous to return? Not exactly. His long-arranged fight with Michael Chandler still hasn’t officially been booked.
While there has been speculation in the media that McGregor would return to action at the UFC 300 gala, it doesn’t look very realistic just yet. And would that be the famous fighter’s fault? That’s the question. Maybe not, even if his opponent Chandler thinks so. So the Irishman has begun to put pressure on the UFC.
By the way, Chandler has asked about Nate Diaz looking for an opponent at the aforementioned UFC 300 gala. At the same time, he called McGregor a former fighter who is only playing at being a real warrior.
Conor McGregor leans into UFC, arranges fight elsewhere
In Riyadh, Conor McGregor caused a stir for several reasons. First and foremost, he challenged boxing legend Manny Pacquiao, who may be 45 years old, but was still fighting not too long ago. So the Irishman wants a fight with another boxing great.
Pacquiao reportedly owes the UFC star $8 million and this could be the perfect way to not only pay back the money, but also make some more. However, that would have to be granted by the UFC, who are clearly trying to put him under pressure.
“THE UFC… Give me a fight. I was supposed to come back in April, then it was supposed to be December. No one has ever been treated in the history of combat sports the way the UFC is treating me at the moment. They should open the floodgates. I’m waiting. My patience is running out,” McGregor told talkSPORT.
