Cristiano Ronaldo has completed the first six months of his new exotic assignment and in recent days it has been reported that he would like to return to Europe. But now he has dismissed the speculation and even revealed that he would welcome other world football stars in Saudi Arabia.
The Portuguese star’s season in Saudi Arabia has come to an end as the league season comes to an end. When Cristiano Ronaldo arrived at Al-Nasser, his team was in first place. But in the end, he has to accept only winning second place.
Cristiano Ronaldo put in a rather inconsistent performance. In some games he was not very visible, in others he was a goal scorer. In total, he scored 14 goals in 19 competitive matches, to which he also added 2 assists.
In the last few days there has been speculation in the foreign media that he would like to return to Europe. However, he now refuses to do so. “I am happy here, I want to and will continue here. Our team will be better next season,” Goal quotes him as saying.
“We have improved as a team over the last six months. I am convinced that we will soon be winning titles,” Ronaldo added.
However, his title quest could be complicated by two different transfers to Saudi Arabia. According to foreign media, Karim Benzema, Ronaldo’s former teammate, has received an astronomical offer to part ways with Real Madrid.
Although Benzema has responded to the speculation by saying that he’s still a player of the Spanish outfit now, he hasn’t said much about his future. If he accepts the offer, he will join Al-Ittihad.
To make matters worse, Ronaldo’s rival is also interested in Saudi Arabia. Lionel Messi is out at PSG, will be a free agent and is choosing his next destination. Inter Miami and Barcelona are also in the running for Al-Hilal, which of course offers the most money.
What does Ronaldo have to say about the speculation? “They are welcome. The league will improve. There are already great foreign and Arab footballers,” says the Portuguese idol, who is under contract at Al-Nasser until 2025.
