Cristiano Ronaldo still hasn’t found a club to play in his beloved Champions League next season. There has already been speculation about several teams where he could be heading. The biggest clubs, however, have turned him down. Now the president of Atlético Madrid has commented on the speculation.
The current summer is very interesting from a transfer point of view. And it may be far from over. The future of the Portuguese star is still in play. Cristiano Ronaldo wants to play in the Champions League, where Manchester United will be missing.
So, for several weeks now, there have been discussions about where he could play in the new season, even though Red Devils coach Erik ten Hag keeps saying that he is counting on him and that he is not for sale. Likewise, he reportedly doesn’t know that Ronaldo has put in a transfer request.
Nevertheless, foreign media constantly report that the player’s agent Jorge Mendes is trying to find his client a new deal. But so far, unsuccessfully. He has been rejected by PSG and Bayern Munich.
The Bavarian club, or rather its top management, has even publicly commented on the whole situation, saying that the arrival of the Portuguese does not fit the club’s philosophy. Not even despite the departure of striking star Robert Lewandowski.
In recent days, there have been rumours that Mendes has even contacted Atlético Madrid to allow Ronaldo to return to La Liga. There was even supposed to be a meeting with coach Diego Simeone. But again, without success.
Atlético president Enrique Cerezo has also commented on the potential arrival of Ronaldo. “You have to ask me more difficult questions. I have simple answers to simple questions. I consider that answered,” Goal quotes him as saying.
“We have an amazing team, sensational players and a fantastic manager. We have everything. What more could we ask for?” cerezo added in his statement.
