Ronaldo as a replacement for Lewandowski? Bayern will need to replace 50 goals a season. Who else can do it?
It has been known for some time that Robert Lewandowski is on his way out of Bayern Munich. The German club is looking for someone to take his place, which will not be easy as there are only a few players in the world who can score so many goals year after year.
It has been known for some time that Robert Lewandowski is on his way out of Bayern Munich. The German club is looking for someone to take his place, which will not be easy as there are only a few players in the world who can score so many goals year after year. One of the possibilities is Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Guardian has the latest on the Lewandowski situation. Barcelona have reportedly offered the German giant €40 million, but he is expected to reject the offer, asking for at least €50 million.
Last season, the Polish hitman managed to score 50 goals in 46 games and contributed to 7 more. Moreover, he can achieve such numbers regularly. If he does indeed leave Munich, there will be a huge hole in his position.
Ronaldo could fill that hole and, according to AS, Bayern Munich could be very interested in him if Lewandowski leaves. Mané, Sané and Ronaldo? That could be a really interesting attack, one that perhaps no man in the world could have come up with just a few weeks ago.
But it all certainly makes sense. That being said, Lewandowski is a goalscoring machine and there aren’t many of those running around on European turf. The Portuguese striker may have celebrated his 37th birthday in February, but that doesn’t take away from his killer instinct.
Last season, he managed to score 24 goals in 39 games for Manchester United, which is a really good number considering how the whole team performed.
There will surely be a lot of changes at Old Trafford this summer, but it will all depend on who can be brought to Manchester. Realistically, we can talk about up to 3-4 players.
Of course, the whole situation is made more difficult for Erik ten Hague by the fact that he will not be playing in the Champions League next season. And that is where Ronaldo has his interests, as he is the top scorer in the millionaire competition with 140 goals.
