Rome has reawakened my passion, Mission: Impossible awaits, says Mourinho

José Mourinho didn’t stay without a job for long after finishing at Tottenham. Surprisingly, he signed for Italian AS Rome, where, according to his own words, “Mission::Impossible” awaits him. In an interview with GQ Portugal, he also talked about his previous engagements.
José Mourinho is looking forward to a new engagement, as he returns to Italy after many years to lead AS Roma into a new era. The famous Italian club has been waiting for 13 years to win any trophy and the Portuguese would like to change that.
“They really wanted me. It was quick. I ended up at Tottenham in the morning, then in the afternoon I got a call from Rome. They wanted me and they were objective. They awakened the passion in me,” Mourinho let slip.
AS Roma have new owners and they are the ones the Portuguese coach praises. He appreciates their humble approach and the fact that they are asking for help from someone with a wealth of experience.
“I immediately felt the passion I have for my job. I didn’t have to think about it because they approached me with their approach. I reallyenjoyed talking to them,” Mourinho continued enthusiastically.
The Portuguese was immediately asked if the comments were in any way related to failed engagements at Manchester United or Tottenham Hotspur.
“Sometimes I make mistakes, I didn’t always choose the right project or I might have been misled about the path of some projects. I have made mistakes, but in the end it doesn’t matter,” is clear the former Inter Milan and Real Madrid coach also.
Mourinho still cannot believe that he is already 58 years old and has 30 years of experience in professional football behind him. But he is still renewing his motivation.
“I went to Manchester in a phase of transition, not to mention decline. Tottenham doesn’t have a successful history. And now I’m going to Rome with new owners and another Mission::Impossible awaits me. Because people only have one way to measure success. I have to win,” Mourinho is aware of the difficulty of his task.
But he is exuding much more energy than in recent stints and can be expected to enjoy his time in Italy to the full. Will he be successful?
