Romania vs. Armenia: Preview and betting tips

Published

on

Nicolae Stancio and Florin Nita will face a crucial match in the fight for the World Cup barrage on Monday. They will welcome Armenia, who are better off from a table perspective, at home. How will the match play out?

Romania is still thinking of qualifying for the World Cup. Although they lost to Germany on Friday, they are only two points behind second place. Finishing behind Armenia or Macedonia would be a shame, as the players themselves realise.

Armenia is unexpectedly even better off. It is third in the table, only a score behind North Macedonia, and is within reach of a historic barrier. In the last round, it earned a prize draw with Iceland.

Young midfielder Ianis Hagi is the mainstay of the home side alongside Nicolae Stancio and Florin Nita, scoring two goals and assisting twice in the recent past. Forward George Puscas (2+1) had a hand in the other three goals.

Tigran Barseghyanu is burning it up in the away camp, the skilful winger has had a hand in four goals (3+1) since the start of 2020. Defensive midfielder Wbeymar Angulo added two more important goals.

Romania has struggled offensively, scoring more than one goal in only two of their last six games.

Armenia is in a similar position, scoring just two goals in its last four games.

Given the quality of the home team and Armenia’s poorly performing attack, I think Romania will win.
