Czech driver Roman Stanek will be in the junior Formula 3 for the third year in a row. After two seasons first with the Czech team Charouz and then with HiTech GP, he has moved to Trident, the team that won the Constructors’ Cup trophy last year.
Last year, the Moravian native scored points in a total of four races and even stood on the podium in Belgium and Hungary. Even so, that still only resulted in 16th place out of 30 drivers, and despite the improvement on 2020, it was not the expected result.
Stanek, however, managed to find an engagement with Trident, who also overcame a strong Prem in the 2021 season in the battle for the inter-team title. The team’s main star among the riders, Jack Doohan, fought for the title for a long time, but in the end it was “only” second place. The Australian earned promotion to Formula 2, making way for the talented Roman Stanek.
“I am proud to be a member of the Trident line-up, which is one of the best teams in Formula 3,” said Stanek in an interview with the official F3 website. He will be joined on the team by Jonny Edgar and Zane Maloney.
Stanek has to perform well, the teams have the same technique but each team knows how to use it differently.
For the 17-year-old, there are several challenges for 2022. He needs to score points regularly, work on his race pace and tyre work. A new team can definitely help him. And if he can improve his performance, we have a lot to look forward to this year.
