In addition to the queen of motorsport, the seasons of the lower categories, namely F2 and F3, are also getting underway. And it was in the Formula 3 category that the Czech driver Roman Stanek achieved an excellent result in qualifying for Sunday’s Bahrain Grand Prix!
For Stanek, this is his third consecutive year in junior Formula 3. However, before this season an important step in Stanek’s racing career had taken place.
For the 2022 season, he switched to the Trident team, which won the Constructors’ Cup title last year. Just last year, Stanek was with the HiTech GP stable, with which he managed to score points in a total of four races, with podium finishes in Belgium and Hungary.
In Trident, the Moravian-born driver replaces Jack Doohan, whose performances earned him a career move to Formula 2. In the 2021 season, the Australian fought for the overall championship, but ended up 26 points behind Dennis Hauger.
For Stanek, this year will be a crucial one in terms of his career. In one of the top F3 stables, he has to put in good and steady performances, and he should score more than one race win.
It should be noted, he has already made a great start to the 2022 season in this way. In qualifying on Friday, he came out second, posting a time of 1:46.314.
He was only sixty-five thousandths of a second behind qualifying winner Franco Colapinto, but finishing second on the start list gives Stanek a great opportunity to fight not only for the podium, but also for the win in Sunday’s main race.
Saturday’s sprint is scheduled for 11:05 a.m., with the race scheduled for twenty laps. Formula 1 qualifying then starts at 16:00, with all five lights going out at 17:40 for the first F2 race.
