Rodrygo: Salah’s revenge? After the LM final, Modric told him to try again next time

Before the Champions League final, Mohamed Salah was full of revenge. He wanted revenge on Real Madrid for the 2018 final, but it didn’t work out and he had to bow his head again. So Luka Modric enjoyed the Egyptian striker after the final whistle.
When BT Sport reporters asked Mohamed Salah after progressing through to the Champions League semi-finals via Villarreal which opponent he wanted to see in the final, they probably expected the usual phrase along the lines of, “I don’t care, they’re both great teams, I’m just happy we’re in the final,” and so on.
Instead, Salah hesitated for a moment and fired back, ” Well… I want to play against Madrid. I have to be honest, if you ask me personally, I want to play against Madrid. Because we lost the final against them,” replied the Liverpool goalscorer.
He then added fuel to the fire when, after Real’s fantastic comeback against Manchester City, he tweeted: “We have to even the score.”
And if that wasn’t clear enough for anyone else, the next day at the Football Writers’ Association awards dinner he was asked if he saw the final as a rematch. “Yes. We lost in the final. It was a sad day for all of us… But it’s payback time,” Salah replied.
But he carried the bitterness of the four-year-old event with him. In fact, he revisited the 2018 final in his pre-match press conference. “I’m very motivated for this game. Especially after what happened in the last final,” said the Liverpool winger.
At every opportunity, Salah mentioned the rematch to Real Madrid. According to his coach in Egypt, he still hasn’t gotten over the fact that Sergio Ramos injured him and took it as a personal and targeted attack to get the Real Madrid captain to take out the Liverpool star. That’s why he was so obsessed with the rematch.
Next time, try again
Only it didn’t work out at all. Salah did get a couple of chances in the final, but it all came down to the fantastic Thibaut Courtois. The Belgian goalkeeper also caught all of Salah’s teammates’ chances and after Vinícius’ goal, the 30-year-old Egyptian had to watch Real Madrid take the most valuable trophy again from close range.
To this point, Rodrygo, Real Madrid’s young winger and star of the semi-final, returned. He was asked about Salah’s rematch on the Podpah podcast and was quite surprised by his answer.
“After the Champions League final, we made a corridor for the Liverpool players. When Salah came through, he was a bit sad and Luka Modric said to him
Although the Real Madrid players claimed Salah’s words about a rematch left them cold, somewhere in their heads they were probably carrying it around. And when they could have hit back, they took the first opportunity.
