Rodrygo: I hope Mbappé comes, he’s a great player and would help us a lot
Kylian Mbappé’s transfer to Real Madrid is still with a question mark. Although PSG reportedly do not want to let their star go for free for a year, the Frenchman is not interested in signing a new contract. Rodrygo would welcome a new teammate.
Kylian Mbappé’s transfer to Real Madrid is still with a question mark. Although PSG reportedly do not want to let their star go for free for a year, the Frenchman is not interested in signing a new contract. Rodrygo would welcome a new teammate.
Competition? Never mind. Rodrygo is not afraid of it. The young Brazilian arrived at Real Madrid in 2019 as an 18-year-old youngster, many didn’t believe he would have the straight to that level and sent him out on loan.
However, Rodrygo refused to leave and wanted to fight for a place in the A-team. Up until last season he was more of a substitute, but then with key goals and great performances in the Champions League play-offs, he signed up for a bigger role.
He got that last season from Carlo Ancelotti, sometimes as a right winger, when Karim Benzema was absent, he played at the tip of the attack.
After the Frenchman’s departure, he is probably being counted on for the spearhead for next season as well, unless a big signing comes in. Namely, Kylian Mbappé from PSG.
Although Mbappé’s arrival might reduce the Brazilian’s playing time a bit, or at least his importance to the team in attack, Rodrygo would definitely welcome the transfer. However, he also admitted that despite the frequent speculation, even the players don’t have the best information.
“It’s complicated at Real Madrid because every year Kylian Mbappé is supposed to come, Harry Kane is coming. When I arrived, there was a lot of talk about Pogba… I don’t have any information, we have to wait. But of course I hope he comes. He’s a great player, he would help us a lot, but at the moment we don’t know anything,” Rodrygo told Brazilian TV show ‘Boleiragem’.
Mbappé told PSG in June that he would not extend his contract, which expires next summer. The Parisian outfit have thus reportedly decided to sell him as they are not interested in losing him for free. So it will be interesting to see how the whole situation develops.
