The Brazilian’s stint in the Reds jersey is coming to a certain end after a long and torrid 8 years. His contract expires in this summer transfer window, moreover the player himself has agreed to the move. The question is of course: Where?
the 31-year-old striker is long past the days when he was an essential part of the starting eleven. At the moment, he’s sitting more on the bench. In fact, new Liverpool signings Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez are preferred at number nine.
Despite these circumstances, Firmino’s decision to quit was still a big surprise, especially for coach Jürgen Klopp. He wanted to bring this beautiful story to a “happy ending”. Among other things, the Brazilian was a great favourite of his.
With the possibility of transferring as a free agent, the former Hoffenheim striker is an attractive commodity for several leading European clubs.
Both Madrid teams, Chelsea, as well as both Milan teams have shown interest. Turkish side Galatasaray and Ronaldo’s Al Nassr are also interested.
However, despite this numerous list of potential future employers, a free transfer to the Catalan capital, Barcelona, is reportedly agreed. He would thus become yet another forward to head to Camp Nou from Liverpool, much like Luis Suárez or Philippe Coutinho.
Since his £29 million transfer in 2015, Firmino has achieved extraordinary success in a Reds jersey. These include the Premier League title, the Club World Cup, the FA Cup, the Carabao Cup and, last but not least, the Champions League winner’s trophy.
