Robert Lewandowski has publicly stated that he wants to leave Bayern Munich in the summer, not when his contract expires. The 33-year-old Polish striker has been linked with a summer transfer to Barcelona in recent days.

Lewandowski has previously hinted that he will reject a contract extension with the German champions. His contract expires next summer.

Speaking to reporters during an international camp with Poland, Lewandowki said. I don’t see any way to continue playing for this club.

“Bayern is a serious club and I believe they will not keep me, I don’t want to play there anymore.

“A transfer is the best solution. I hope they won’t stop me.”

The striker gave a hint of things to come when he took part in the Monaco Grand Prix at the weekend.

Speaking to Sky Germany in the Principality of Monaco, he said. Soon it will be possible to say more.”

In total, Lewandowski has scored 344 goals in 375 games for the club. Bayern have no direct replacement for him in the team, although 32-year-old Thomas Müller, who can lead the attacking line if needed, signed a new contract at the club earlier this month. Sadio Mané, who is closest to a move to Bayern, could also be a possible replacement.
