Rio Ferdinand: Manchester United players’ agents are calling me to tell me not to criticise their clients so much

Manchester United’s performance is not matching the fans’ expectations and the Red Devils players are facing criticism from all sides. The derby with Manchester City also provoked negative reactions, after which former players, including Rio Ferdinand, were vocal. And the players’ agents were not happy.
Rio Ferdinand spent 12 years at Old Trafford, winning the Champions League and six league titles, among others. It is no wonder that he, like other former players of the club Gary Neville and Roy Keane, find United’s current performances hard to follow.
He also expressed his concern after Sunday’s 4-1 loss to their hated city rivals, saying that nobody but the goalkeeper put in a decent performance.
And as he revealed, he has already been contacted by several agents over his comments, “ I have faced several calls from agents asking me not to say certain things and asking why I am so critical,” the former defender said on the Vibe with Five podcast.
“If my criticism was over the edge and intruding into the personal lives of players, I would understand those complaints and apologize. But I’m not going to apologize for stating the facts. I’m not going to apologise for watching someone play and saying they could have been better,” Ferdinand continued.
Manchester United dropped to 5th place due to the derby loss, complicating their quest for a top 4 finish.
The Red Devils next game is on Saturday when they face Tottenham, a direct competitor for the places guaranteeing the Champions League.
