UEFA has divided the Champions League third preliminary round draw into two groups and Slavia, like Sparta, already know their potential opponents for the third preliminary round. Who could they face?

Thanks to winning the title last season, Slavia have qualified for the Champions League third preliminary round and will be seeded in the championship section.

UEFA has split the draw for the third preliminary round into two groups, narrowing Slavia’s list
of possible opponents.

Slavia is now waiting for the winner of Malmo FF (Sweden) – HJK Helsinki (Finland),
FC Alashkert (Armenia) – Sherif Tiraspol (Moldova), Ferencváros (Hungary) – Žalgiris Vilnius (Lithuania)

Fans would most like to see an opponent from Moldova, i.e. Sherif Tiraspol. Why? In 2009, Slavia almost had the Champions League group stage within reach.

They were just minutes away from qualifying for the millionaire competition. Slavia’s dream vanished in the 93rd minute of the rematch on home soil.

Sherif Tiraspol equalised in the set-up and advanced to the Champions League group thanks to a goal scored on the opponent’s pitch. Slavia was then left with only qualification for the Europa League.

Slavia would have been the clear favourite in the match and the spicy duel would have been seen by Slavia fans as a rematch for 2009.
