Replacement for Šilhavy? Representation should not be for merit! The new coach must be progressive with a winning mentality

The Czech national football team will most likely be looking for a new coach. The current one, along with his colleagues, is out of contract in July and recent performances show that it is time for a change. But who will replace him? What attributes should the new coach have?

Relegation from the barrage should be the last straw for the leadership of the Football Association of the Czech Republic. Since the Euros, the performance of Czech footballers has gone downhill.

The autumn was not a good one and there was already speculation before the barrage that the coaching staff’s contract would be extended only if they advanced.

Yes, qualification for the World Cup cannot be a given for our selection, but the unsuccessful qualification and the subsequent barrage against a team of comparable quality says something.

So it is definitely time for a change, while there is a quality generation that still has a chance to show that the Czech team is a force to be reckoned with. But what replacement should come?

There is much speculation about Ivan Hašek, but why? For what reason should a coach who has been out of Czech football for more than 10 years come?

Merit and age should definitely not play a role here. With that kind of success they simply won’t come, no matter what anyone says. They should go into unknown waters, which is often not feared abroad.

The job of a national coach is completely different from that of a club coach. But now is the time to find a progressive coach who wants to win.

I wouldn’t be afraid to reach for someone younger, like David Horejs, coach of Dynamo České Budějovice, where his contract expires in the summer.

If this move doesn’t work out, then David Holoubek could come in. This role is not very easy and there is not much time to instil tactics, but it all starts with choosing a team that suits your type of football. And these coaches could certainly do that.
