Formula 1 is running its seventh race of the season in Monaco, and currently not even half of the race length has been completed. On lap 27, Mick Schumacher suffered a major accident, completely wrecking his monoposto!
Red flags, race stopped. The Monaco Grand Prix brought a really big and very unpleasant crash on its 27th circuit Mick Schumacher.
The German driver failed to control his car at turn 15 and then crashed into the tecpro barrier.
Yellow flags were immediately waved on the circuit and the race directorate called the safety car to the track. However, after three laps of circling behind this safety car, the race directors resorted to red flags, thus halting the Monaco Grand Prix.
This, of course, was for safety reasons while clearing debris from Schumacher’s Haas, the tecpro barrier having been significantly damaged after the impact.
In addition, Kevin Magnussen also retired from the race a few laps before this crash, so the Haas team no longer has any representation in the race.
According to F1, the race is to be restarted behind the safety car, not from a fixed position. After all, the Grand Prix itself was started with the safety car, due to safety reasons as a result of heavy rain.
The Monaco Grand Prix is currently led by Sergio Pérez ahead of Carlos Sainz, Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc. Fifth place is currently held by George Russell in a Mercedes, with Lando Norris sixth, Fernando Alonso seventh, Lewis Hamilton eighth, Esteban Ocon ninth and Valtteri Bottas rounding out the elite ten.
