Recently, she almost caused a sensation in the UFC, now she’s facing lawsuits. The star fighter allegedly failed to pay her coaches
Taila Santos is one of the top fighters in the UFC. She is currently the UFC’s number two flyweight and in June she fought the legendary and dominant Valentina Shevchenko. She went into the fight as the underdog, however, she was able to threaten and almost won the belt. Now, however, she’s dealing with other issues.
the 29-year-old Brazilian had the toughest fight of her life in June. She faced Valentina Shevchenko and surprisingly she had a lot to do to finish the fight on points. And that was only on split-decision.
It’s been a while since anyone has troubled the Kyrgyzstan native like Taila Santos. No wonder she asked for a rematch. After all, a lot of people saw her win, so she really deserved a rematch.
But now she has other things to worry about. Her former head coach and manager Marcel Brigadeir is suing her. The reason? He says she reneged on her contract when she left his gym over a year ago and owes him money from her last three matches.
Brigadeiro isn’t the only one suing the Brazilian fighter, however. He is joined by trainer Marcio Malko, who also prepared her for her last three fights. His lawsuit has even taken a concrete form, as he is asking for 20% of her last paycheck, or $36,400. Converted to crowns, this is a sum of around 857,000.
To make matters worse, her husband’s brother Pedro Barbosa Farias is also complaining. He is still training Santos. He admitted to MMA Fighting that Santos owes him $2,935.
But Farias can’t afford to sue. So he only filed a police report against his brother and also Santos for alleged embezzlement.
However, the Brazilian fighter is also defending himself in court. She filed a lawsuit against Brigadeiro in 2021 over a contract they signed together. She said she had no access to the contract and could not read it or keep copies of it. Besides, Brigadeiro was supposed to refuse to fight in the UFC without her permission.
Santos is seeking $4,820 in damages.
