Fran García is the big discovery of the last and this season of La Liga. The Rayo Vallecano left back caught the eye of not only Real Madrid, who brought him up, but also Bayer Leverkusen, who wanted to buy him immediately. Raya’s president praises Real Madrid’s behaviour.
García is currently one of the best left backs in La Liga. His tireless trips down the left and his constant activity have logically attracted the interest of other clubs. Madrid’s neighbour, the royal club Real Madrid, where García grew up and from where he also came to Vallecas, was the first to rush in.
After two and a half great seasons in the jersey with the lightning bolt on his pride, Real decided it was time to bring the 23-year-old midfielder back home. He has a €5 million pre-emption right on him, so there will be no problems with the transfer.
Only, Real wanted to let García grow in the spring at Estadio de Vallecas and incorporate him into the squad in the summer. However, Bayer Leverkusen stepped in and wanted to buy García immediately for €10 million.
But Real Madrid didn’t want to lose their talent, so they struck a deal with Ray for the summer transfer period, when he will join Carlo Ancelotti’s team. This was confirmed by Raya president Martín Presa.
He also thanked Real Madrid and president Florentino Pérez for his negotiations. In fact, Los Blancos have lost injured left-back Ferland Mendy for 2 months, David Alaba is also unavailable, so the left-back is played by central midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.
Gentlemen from Madrid
Logically, there would be a bid for Real to recall García now in the winter, which they are legitimately entitled to do under the pre-emption right. But Pérez prides himself on good relations with other clubs and did not want to weaken Rayo on the last day of transfers, when the modest Madrid outfit would have no chance of finding a replacement.
“Out of respect for Rayo and so as not to damage us, they behaved like gentlemen,” reveals Rayo president Martín Presa of the negotiations with Real Madrid to Partidazo de COPE.
“They were right to do so, especially now with the situation around Mendy. Sportingly it would have been the logical solution for them, but they didn’t want to damage us, that’s the behaviour of a classy club. I have to thank them very much for that,” Presa said.
