It is a known fact that Italian strategist Carlo Ancelotti will not be sitting on the Real Madrid hot seat at the start of the 2024/2025 season. So who will take over the role?
Apart from Carlo Ancelotti and Zinedine Zidane, no one has stayed on the Madrid giant’s bench for too long over the past few years. However, after the end of this season, a new name will take over Los Blancos.
The now-iconic Italian Ancelotti will be at the helm after the end of the season, so it is understandable that discussions about a potential replacement are starting in earnest.
According to talkSPORT or Sport Bible, four names of hot candidates have crystallized. Among the most likely successors are the pair of Roberto De Zebri and Xabi Alonso.
The coach from the Apennine Peninsula is currently in charge of English side Brighton, where he has shown over the past few seasons that he is certainly no stranger to the coaching craft.
In the Spanish capital, they are very enthusiastic about De Zebri’s work and are monitoring the coach very closely. His exit clause also favours a potential move. It currently stands at £10 million.
In addition to Ancelotti’s compatriot, former Galácticos midfielder Xabi Alonso is also on the list. The outstanding technician has spent 5 seasons at the Santiago Bernabéu, and is currently in charge of German side Bayer Leverkusen and holds the role of the biggest favourite to win the job.
Here, especially in this season so far, he has been doing a great job, as I’m sure the vast majority of Czech fans suspect. Moreover, he started his coaching career at Real, where he was a member of the implementation team. Then Alonso took over Real Sociedad B.
The remaining two candidates are also names very well known to the ears of Los Blancos fans. They include club legend Raúl González and former Madrid defender Alváro Arbeola.
Both of the aforementioned Spaniards currently occupy positions in the youth teams of their beloved club.
