Mbappé’s contract with PSG
PSG triumphantly presented Mbappé’s contract until 2025, but in reality it is only valid until 2024 with a one-year option that only Mbappé can exercise. Thus, if the 2018 world champion decides to leave, Real Madrid will always be in the game.
However, just a few months after signing the new contract, it has come to light that Mbappé is unhappy in Paris and wants to leave. The problem, however, still lies with the PSG management. This is because it is in open war with Real Madrid and Antero Henrique, PSG’s consultant, has let it be known that Mbappé can go anywhere he wants, except Real Madrid.
However, Mbappé has reportedly not given up his dream of donning the white jersey. ” The only club that can get him out is Real Madrid,” a PSG source told The Athletic.
It is highly unlikely that PSG would be willing to sell to Real Madrid. And if they did, they would be asking for an outrageous sum of over €400 million. Thanks to the backing of the Qatari sheikhs, the club doesn’t need the money and so doesn’t need to sell anyone.
So if Mbappé’s arrival at Real is in play, it is more likely to be in the summer of 2024, when his contract expires at the Parc des Princes. That is, unless he succumbs to political pressure again from French President Emmanuel Macron and top Qatari officials.
Real Madrid reportedly prefer Mbappé to Erling Haaland and are therefore willing to wait. After all, does it make sense to get such a player for free? That would be the deal of the century.
But the Parisian club will surely do everything they can to prevent this transfer. The coveted Champions League win, in which PSG players have failed again this season, could certainly help.
A win for Benzema
Karim Benzema, even at 35 years old, is an excellent striker, which is confirmed by his statistics this season: 27 games – 18 goals. However, he has only signed a contract with Real Madrid until the end of June.
However, everyone expects the French striker to extend it for at least one more year, which fits nicely with the situation with Mbappé, who would replace, maybe even complement him at the Santiago Bernabéu next summer.
