Real Madrid vs. Chelsea: Preview and betting tips

The remaining two matches of the Champions League quarter-finals will be played on Wednesday evening. For the third season in a row, football fans will be treated to a clash between Real Madrid and Chelsea. The Spanish team is the slight favourite to qualify, but can it confirm this role on the pitch?

In the domestic competition, Real Madrid have virtually nothing to play for. They are twelve points behind Barcelona, who also have a game against Girona on Monday. Madrid can now turn all its attention to the Champions League.

It has not had any major problems in the ‘millionaire’s competition’. They dominated the Group F with thirteen points and decided the semi-final double-header with Liverpool at Anfield Road, where they won 5-2. The rematch was a mere formality (1: 0).

The biggest threat to the opposition’s defence is the Benzema-Vincicius pairing. The Brazilian winger has been particularly successful in the Champions League, scoring six goals and adding three assists.

Chelsea can also concentrate solely on the Champions League. In the Premier League, Frank Lampard’s men are in eleventh place, with seven points separating them from the cup. In addition, seventh-placed Brighton have two more games to play.

Chelsea face Borussia Dortmund in the eighth round of football’s most prestigious competition. The German side won the home encounter 1-0, but lost 2-0 at Stamford Bridge after goals from Sterling and Havertz, allowing the Blues to enjoy a well-deserved promotion.

One of Chelsea’s biggest stars is Joao Felix, who is on loan from Atlético Madrid. It will be very interesting to see if the Portuguese will experience his first win against Los Blancos after six failures. At the same time, he is also waiting for his first hit in the net of this opponent.

Real Madrid is the slight favourite to reach the semi-finals. However, both teams have a lot at stake, so I expect a cautious match. The defence of the team from West London works well, so Chelsea could bring an interesting result to the rematch.
