Real Madrid were reportedly dazzled by the excellent performances of Manchester United’s summer signing Lisandro Martínez. However, he knows he is now an unsellable commodity for the Red Devils. So the club will target his former Ajax Amsterdam tracking partner Jurriën Timber.

According to 90min.com, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has been impressed by the performances of Manchester United stopper Lisandro Martínez.

The Argentine international has fitted in perfectly with the Red Devils after his summer arrival from Ajax Amsterdam, forming a stable defensive pairing with Raphaël Varane.

Considering that the 24-year-old central defender only arrived at Old Trafford in the summer and Manchester United paid almost €60 million for him, it is highly unlikely that he will be moving anytime soon, whether to Real or elsewhere. The Royal club are therefore thinking of an alternative.

The 21-year-old Dutch international has a bright future ahead of him and his typology would seem to fit the Italian strategist Ancelotti’s four-man Real Madrid defence.

Manchester United also considered Timber in the summer

Timber is currently at war with the Netherlands team at the World Cup in Qatar, and did not appear in the starting line-up in the first game against Senegal (2: 0), but played the full 90 minutes in the second one against Ecuador (1: 1) alongside Virgil Van Dijk and Nathan Ake.

The Ajax Amsterdam graduate is playing regularly for his parent club for the third season and is proving that he will be a great player one day. In the summer, Manchester United were interested in him, where new manager Erik ten Hag wanted him, but in the end it was the aforementioned Martínez who headed to Old Trafford.

Before the season, Ajax asked for about 40 million euros for their gem, in case of a successful World Cup, Timber’s price could be even higher. However, for a club like Real Madrid, this may not be an obstacle, and we may see Timber in the white jersey next season.
