Real Madrid is starting a revolution. President Florentino Pérez has decided it’s time to bang the table and make a big splash in the squad. One of the next arrivals is Alphonso Davies.
Last weekend at the Santiago Bernabéu was marked by departures. On Saturday, the departures of Marco Asensio and Mariano Díaz were announced after Eden Hazard’s contract was terminated early.
Then on Sunday, the biggest loss came when Real Madrid announced the end of Karim Benzema. More departures are set to follow, Álvaro Odriozola is 99% heading back to Real Sociedad, with Dani Ceballos’ departure to Betis also likely.
Real would also like to get rid of fifth-choice stopper Jesus Vallejo. Also expected to leave is substitute goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, who would like to catch regularly again after three years at number two. And there is also talk that Real would not be averse to the departure of left-back Ferland Mendy.
Of course, the club’s management has to react to such an upheaval with a few signings. The arrival of Frano García, a youngster who has been excellent at Rayo Vallecano, has been known since the spring.
Reportedly, the arrival of the 16-goal scorer from Espanyol should be very close, also the 33-year-old Joselu passed through the youth of Real Madrid.
And now the bigger stars. According to Fabrizio Romano, Real have launched the operation of “Harry Kane”, who should be the replacement for Benzema. But negotiations with Tottenham are likely to drag on and the amount could be around €100 million.
At the same time, the arrival of Kai Havertz from Chelsea, who is expected to cost around 60 million euros, is being finalised. But Real are also thinking about the defence.
According to journalist José Félix Díaz of the daily MARCA, Real have started to show interest in Alphonso Davies from Bayern Munich. He has reportedly already contacted the Bavarian club about starting negotiations and Bayern has not refused the sale of the Canadian footballer.
Although he is one of the best left-backs in the world and Bayern would like to continue to build their future on him, Davies has repeatedly refused to extend his contract, which expires in June 2025, so the German champion has not rejected the sale.
All of this is aided by the chaos that is currently taking place at Bayern. The sacking of Nagelsmann, the sacking of two major members of the management, the shaken position of Tuchel certainly does not add to the calmness of the players.
Moreover, Davies admitted during the season that he is not completely satisfied with life in Munich. “I’m alone here. Neither my family nor my girlfriend are here with me,” the Canadian complained.
It is the left-back position that needs strengthening at Real Madrid. There is only one fullback in the team, Ferland Mendy, but he has major health problems. When he plays, he is great defensively, but he won’t help the team much on the offensive end and the club would prefer a more offensive midfielder like Marcelo.
