Real Madrid fans can rest easy. I’ll be ready on Sunday, says Karim Benzema

Real Madrid didn’t allow any surprises in yesterday’s game, building on their comfortable lead from the first encounter and advancing to the next stage of the Champions League. The fans of the White Ballet, however, were momentarily shocked.

Even though the match offered only one goal, it was played at a great pace and the fans were certainly not bored.

One would have expected Liverpool to be the more offensive team and put the home team under much more pressure. However, Real Madrid were more dangerous and more than once the English club had to be saved by goalkeeper Alisson.

He first pulled off a great save against his Brazilian teammate when he pulled off a wonderful reflex save after shooting from point-blank range.

Moments later, he worked himself into a sweat when he made a fine save after a long-range shot sent at him by French midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.

Despite his best efforts, the Liverpool goalkeeper was eventually beaten. Less than eighty minutes into the game, Vinicius Jr. crossed the ball to Kari Benzema, who cleared it into an uncovered net.

The joy of the White Ballet fans was immediately replaced by concern. The French striker began to jump and make painful grimaces in celebration of the goal. He still spent a few moments on the pitch before the Italian coach preemptively replaced him.

Benzema reassured his supporters immediately after the game with the clear message that he was fine. He received a hard blow to the shin, but it is nothing serious.

It would be a huge blow for Real Madrid, as they will face Barcelona on Sunday, where they will need to get all three points to keep their hopes of erasing a nine-point deficit to the Catalan leaders.
