If you’ve ever heard the phrase generational talent, it fits Eduardo Camavinga. Only 18 years old, the Rennes midfielder has already started his fourth Ligue 1 season this year! He has the whole of Europe at his feet, with several giants vying for his signature. However, the young Frenchman chose Real Madrid.
In the 2018/19 season, Camavinga started seven Ligue 1 matches, a year later he has already become a member of the starting line-up and has appeared in 25 league games, scoring 1 goal and 2 assists. Last season, he was one of the club’s key players and featured in 35 league games and 4 matches in the Champions League group stage.
Camavinga made his debut at the age of 17 in a busy French national team, for whom he played two duels in the Nations League. So it’s no wonder that the extremely talented youngster had the world’s big clubs at his feet.
Real Madrid, PSG, Manchester United, Manchester City, Juventus, Camavinga had his pick. Only the first three clubs sent a final offer and the lanky midfielder chose Real Madrid.
Moreover, the central midfielder will come for “only” 31 million euros, which is an amazing price for such a talent. However, Camaving is out of contract at Rennes next year, so he could leave for free, which would bring the price down quite a bit.
As reported by renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, all the paperwork has been completed and the whole thing should be official during Tuesday.
But he comes to Real Madrid as a reinforcement, he won’t go anywhere on loan. So it will be interesting to see how Carlo Ancelotti will assemble his midfield, with Casemiro, Kroos, Modric, Valverde, Isco and newly Camavinga at his disposal.
