One of the best players of our time? Without a doubt, Marcus Rashford. The English striker is having an extremely successful season, scoring goal after goal. And what is his recipe? A strong mentality is largely behind his form.
The England international has been unstoppable this season. Especially since the return of club football after the World Cup, Marcus Rashford has been one of the most dangerous players on the planet.
This season he already has awesome stats, having netted 24 goals in 37 competitive games, to which he has added 9 assists. He even equalled Wayne Rooney’s record when he scored in seven Premier League games at Old Trafford in a row.
And what’s behind his improved form? First and foremost, Rashford admitted that he has finally managed to heal his long-term injured shoulder. This has not troubled him for just one season, but for a considerably longer period of time. However, he overcame the pain and sacrificed for the club.
But that’s not the only reason. Indeed, Rashford believes that the key factor and the difference between a good and an excellent footballer is the head.
“Football is 95% about your mentality. That’s the basis for your performance. There are many players who have the ability and that’s why they play at the highest level. But what makes the difference is the head setup. I’ve been on both sides and that’s why I understand why it’s so important,” Rashford expressed to The Guardian.
Apart from that, the Red Devils star has been trying to work on his positional play. Specifically, on being in areas from which to score on the pitch. In past seasons, he said he could easily have added an extra 10 or 15 goals.
Rashford, at 25, is thus having arguably the best season of his career and will definitely want to improve his numbers. Besides, he would like to take Manchester United to a trophy.
