Raphinha: El Clásico? We are the leaders. If any team should be afraid, it’s Real Madrid

The most watched game in the world is coming up on Sunday. El Clásico between Real Madrid and Barcelona will offer a thrilling spectacle. The Catalan winger Raphinha is convinced that his team is the favourite.

Neither team has ever lost in La Liga. In eight rounds, both Real Madrid and Barcelona have notched up seven wins and one draw.

The Catalans dropped points in the first round, Los Blancos went on a nine-match unbeaten run through all competitions, only to be broken by Osasuna in the penultimate round.

Barcelona jumped to the top of the table thanks to a better scoreline, but it is very bold to consider them the favourites. For one thing, Real Madrid is the current winner of La Liga and the Champions League, the team has been strengthened in the summer and is playing excellent football. Moreover, it is being played at the Santiago Bernabéu.

The Blaugranas have also been playing great football in the league, but in the Champions League they are one step away from relegation to the Europa League, and their entire defence has fallen apart, so the psyche is probably not ideal. Still, Raphinha thinks Barcelona have the upper hand.

“El Clásico? We are the leaders. If there’s a team to watch out for, it’s them,” the Brazilian said confidently in an interview with Movistar.

Who will do better in El Clásico, we will find out on Sunday afternoon. What is certain, however, is that whoever takes the three points will be able to call themselves table leader for at least another week.
