Rangnick definitely the replacement for Tuchel? Bayern put a new contract on the table, German coach will interfere in transfers
They’ve been looking for a replacement for Thomas Tuchel for a long time. Several alternatives didn’t work out. But now it looks like Bayern’s management has finally found a coach for the 2024/25 season. It should be Ralf Rangnick, for whom the Bavarian giant is reportedly already preparing a contract.
The current Bundesliga season is coming to an end, with Bayern still coached by Thomas Tuchel. However, his time on the bench of the Bavarian club is getting very short, and it has been clear for several months that the former Chelsea coach will leave the Allianz Arena after the season.
Germany’s most successful club had two primary alternatives as far as potential replacements were concerned. The first was current Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso, but he had already officially announced some time ago that he would not be leaving Bayer.
The second choice was Julian Nagelsmann, who has led Bayern as head coach before. But now he is coaching the German national team and has agreed a new contract with the German Football Association (DFB) until 2026.
In addition, the Bavarian side, like other clubs, have tried to lure Ruben Amorim from Sporting Lisbon. But even this option did not meet with success. The current second team in the Bundesliga table had no choice but to look elsewhere for a replacement. Again.
And he found one, in the Austrian national team. Ralf Rangnick is currently the head coach. One of the problems, however, was that the 67-year-old has a contract with his current employer until 2026.
Rangnick definitely the replacement for Tuchel?
Bayern, however, seem to have solved that problem, according to recent reports. The Austrian team is to collect several million euros in financial compensation for his release.
At the same time, the Munich team is preparing for the Champions League match against Real Madrid, but the club’s management is understandably not delaying. The agreement with Rangnick should be confirmed this week.
At the same time, Bayern has already prepared a new contract for his potential replacement. It is to run until 2027, with Rangnick getting a say in transfers. Only a few details are missing to confirm the new contract. The new coach is expected to join the German big club after the European Championships.
