The third round of the Champions League kicks off on Tuesday. Raków Czestochowa will take on Aris Limassol in Cyprus in the championship round. What to expect from the match and what to bet on?
Raków are enjoying their title season so far, they haven’t lost a competitive match since they became champions. It has won four of its seven matches, but only drew 2-2 at home to Warta Poznan at the weekend.
Aris Limassol entered the season even better, so far they are 100 percent. After triumphing in the Cyprus Super Cup twice in the qualifiers, they sovereignly overcame Bate Borisov, beating the Belarusian champion 11:5 on aggregate. The offense is clearly working.
Raków’s key figures
The Poles rely on summer signing Lukasz Zwolinski, the spiky striker has netted five goals so far. Offensive midfielder Bartosz Nowak has been at the club for a year, yet he is indispensable, having made one appearance so far.
Key figures of Aris
Mariusz Stepinski has been in great form in the beginning of the season, striking three times and adding one assist in three games. Senegalese Yannick Gomis is even better, picking up the same record in just two games.
What to expect and what to bet on?
Rakow have long relied on a goal-scoring attack, scoring more than one goal in four of their last five games this season. Moreover, it is unbeaten at home for a long nine games, giving Karabakh a three-pointer, for example.
Aris, on the other hand, has struggled defensively, receiving two or more goals in five of its last seven games. He has kept a clean sheet in only one of the last seven games, for example he got a four from Dynamo Kiev in the preparation.
Considering Rakow’s productivity, the progression through a strong Karabakh and the troubled Aris defensive which will be in permanence in Poland, I think the home side can win the first leg.
