Twenty-year-old tennis player Felix Auger-Aliassime is one of the biggest rising stars on the ATP circuit. His coaching staff will now be completed by Toni Nadal, the uncle of the former world number one.
Felix Auger-Aliassime’s greatest achievements include the finals of tournaments in Marseille, Rotterdam, Stuttgart and the semi-finals in Miami. However, the 22nd ranked player is still waiting for his first ATP title.
Toni Nadal, who guided Rafael Nadal between 1990-2017, would help him in this. Under his guidance, the Spaniard won 16 Grand Slams and the Olympic Games.
The 60-year-old Nadal will now be involved in the development of Auger-Aliassime. However, this does not mean the departure of Frederic Fontang, who will also remain on the coaching staff.
The collaboration with Nadal will begin at the Monte Carlo tournament. “Together with Fred and the rest of the team, we had the opportunity to work with him back in December in Mallorca, but officially our working relationship only starts now,” the Canadian told Sky Sports.
At the same time, he believes that Nadal is the one who will put him among the top tennis players. “I’m happy to have him as part of my project and hopefully we can do great things together in the future,” he added.
On Monday, Auger-Aliassime will face Chilean opponent Cristian Garin in the first round of the Monte Carlo tournament.
