Racism! Get off the field! Rangers fans complain about kids booing Glen Kamara
It was clear that the Rangers game at Sparta would cause some controversy. When Glen Kamara, a participant in the spring scandal, touched the ball at Letná, he received an unpleasant welcome from the children’s fans. And Rangers fans don’t like that.
It was clear that the Rangers game at Sparta would cause some controversy. When Glen Kamara, a participant in the spring scandal, touched the ball at Letná, he received an unpleasant welcome from the children’s fans. And Rangers fans don’t like that.
The Scottish champion certainly didn’t garner any sympathy in the Czech Republic. He even disrupted the otherwise age-old rivalry between Slavia and Sparta. Many fans of the Sešiovans wish Rangers defeat, the children’s crowd at Letná welcomed Glen Kamara with boos.
Kamara was booed almost every time he touched the ball, the biggest joy at Letná was the yellow card for the Finnish midfielder. It must be said, however, that it was not a racist booing, but a classic booing, which is absolutely common on football pitches.
Not so in Scotland. Rangers fans might have gone crazy on Twitter when they heard the boos for Kamara. “Don’t go back on the pitch, it’s clear they’re booing our black players. Get them out of the stadium,” wrote one Rangers fan. “Even the kids are booing Glen. Racism is perfectly normal in this country,” raged another supporter.
“Racist sympathisers are booing Kamara. If children behave like this, racism will run rampant in their country for years,” wrote another fan. “ UEFA should be ashamed, even the children are booing Kamara, ” wrote another fan. “Get off the pitch. The booing when Kamara got the yellow was terrible,” another fan raged.
“It’s disgusting that Kamara has to put up with this. I would have supported Rangers if they had refused to come on in the second half. Even if we lost the points,” wrote another Rangers supporter. “Glen Kamara is racially abused again,” wrote a Scottish fan.
You’ll find plenty of similar reactions on Twitter. Rangers fans are clear that it was racism again, even though it’s perfectly normal to boo Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi, for example.
