Jamaican striker Andre Gray of Queens Park Rangers won the award for the best goal in the Championship, the second highest league in England, for the month of November.
Jamaican striker Andre Gray of Queens Park Rangers won the award for the best goal in the Championship, the second highest league in England, for the month of November.
The 30-year-old striker received 52% of the votes in the public vote, beating the inferior goalscorers Phillip Zinckernagel of Nottingham Forest and Rhian Brewster of Sheffield United in the shortlist.
“It’s one of those goal situations where you just have to trust your instincts and hope that the ball goes where you want it to go in the end ,” commented the Jamaican striker on his magnificent goal.
“There wasn’t much time left and we needed to score the winning goal. It’s a good thing I reacted so quickly to the ball bouncing off the bar.
My first touch was excellent and the goalkeeper had no chance. I’m glad I helped to get the three points,” added the former Watford player.
Sky Sports commentator and head judge Don Goodman was also full of praise. “Andre Gray’s finish would have deserved the award even if it wasn’t such an important goal.
Paradoxically, however, it’s what makes it special compared to the other nominees, ” Goodman said.
