Lucie Pudilova managed to beat Caroline Yariwake on points in Ostrava at the weekend, but she broke her arm during the match and will have to take a break. Her next match may also be in danger.
After Friday’s weigh-in, it was a question whether Lucie Pudilova would even start her match at OKTAGON 32. Her star trainer John Kavanagh, who coaches Conor McGregor, has already cancelled one fight because her opponent did not meet the weight limit.
Caroline Yariwake didn’t make weight either, but Pudilova and the organization agreed that the Brazilian must weigh 66 kilograms the afternoon before the fight. The condition was fulfilled and the fight took place.
Pudilova showed her great improvement in it. From the very beginning she started to hit her opponent with one punch after another, she was light on her feet, she moved well. She deservedly won on points. But unfortunately, during the match you could already see that something was wrong.
The Czech fighter boxed mainly with one hand. As she revealed in her post-fight interview in the cage, she got hurt in the first round. Now she commented on her injury on social media.
“This fight was a big test for me because I broke a bone in my right hand in the first round. With each successive blow I felt that something wasn’t right, but it didn’t break me and, as in every fight, I left it all out there,” Pudilova wrote on Instagram.
But she also noted that thanks to the support of the fans in the audience, she brought the match to a victorious end. She attached two photos to the caption, the second being an X-ray of her injured hand.
Meanwhile, Pudilova is set to take on Lucie Sedlacek in a boxing match at OKTAGON Underground in just a month’s time. Can she get her health back together?
