Lucie Pudilova is officially back in the UFC. She has tried to make it in the most famous MMA organization in the world in the past, but unfortunately unsuccessfully. Now she hopes her second chance will go better.
It was 2017 when Lucie Pudilova was the first ever fighter from the Czech Republic to make it to the famous UFC organization. However, the management did not go well at all. She got really tough opponents and although she didn’t do badly, she lost five out of seven fights, four on points.
Since 2020, however, she’s been an Octagon fighter, where she’s both fixed her appetite and made some changes. The biggest one is that she is trained by star trainer John Kavanagh, who manages Conor McGregor.
In short, Pudilova has done everything she can to make her return to the UFC. And now she’s done it. But it could have been a little sooner. “At one point, a return was already realistic, but I didn’t have a work permit. That was after her third win in the Octagon,” she revealed in an interview with Kaocko.cz.
And why, in her words, did her first stint in the UFC not work out? “I was 22 years old when I went there. It was early, I wasn’t comprehensive, it was impossible to make it. I didn’t have that much experience, plus I had tough opponents,” she said looking back.
What kind of opponents does she have in mind? Liz Carmouche is now the Bellator champion, Antonina Shevchenko is the sister of the dominant UFC champion Valentina.
Besides, Pudilova changed weight classes. She’s also currently improving her ground skills, bringing home three medals from her Brazilian jiu-jitsu fights in Germany. She is at the perfect age, approaching the peak of her career. Can she make it big?
