He could have played in the Premier League, but Watford didn’t give him a chance after promotion. Now Daniel Pudil is returning to England at the age of thirty-six, he will play in the ninth division. He was introduced on Twitter by Hallam FC.
Pudil said goodbye to first league football two years ago. In August 2020, he left Mlada Boleslav and headed to Viktoria Zizkov. He lasted one year in their jersey and at the age of 35 it seemed he was ending his career.
However, after a one-year break, he decided to return to football, specifically to the English club Hallam Fc. He dominated Division One last year and will now play in the Premier Division, the ninth highest competition in England.
Pudil has quite a big name in the British Isles, having spent seven years with English teams. He even helped Watford to promotion to the Premier League in the 2014/15 season, but after strengthening the squad, he did not make a single appearance among the elite and left for Sheffield Wednesday.
The representative defender didn’t give up and after a year and a half in the blue and white, he once again played for the best league competition in the world. In the semi-finals of the Championship play-offs, he drew twice goalless with Huddersfield and eventually fell short on penalties. Now he’s more likely to enjoy his time in England with his family.
“Daniel is settled here with his family and wanted to get involved with a local club. We know he is very busy and has a lot of commitments even at weekends, but he could start as early as August 7 in the FA Cup against Bury,” Hallam coach Craig Denton told The Star.
