Slavia won against Ballkani 1::0, but can’t be satisfied. Three points count, but Sivasspor defeated Cluj at home and Slavia is close to elimination in the group. What are the reactions of the football public to this not very eye-pleasing match?
Slavia went into the match with a clear goal, nothing but a win is out of the question. The performance was not good by any means, but Ondrej Lingr scored a lean 1: 0 victory in the end.
Slavia thus added three points to the table and also helped the coefficient, which will definitely suffer especially in the spring if there is no single domestic team in the European Cup.
The public reactions are different. For example, on the sports channel Sport 1 at half-time, the experts in the studio mentioned Sparta, who made it much easier for Slavia in the mutual match compared to Ballkani.
Holt Sparta is not really Ballkani and its performance in the derby was so shameful that its fans will hear about it for years to come.
But Ballkani could have got at least a point in the match, the win of the Sešiovans was secured by great saves of the goalkeeper Ondřej Kolář, who is getting back to his excellent form.
Twitter user Richard Načeradec pointed out with irony the expression of Tomáš Čermák, a Slavia fan who was sentenced to six months for inciting hatred against a group of people or restricting their rights and freedoms.
Čermák must have had a similar expression once he found out the result of Sivasspor’s home defeat by Cluj without any difficulty. It means only one thing, if Cluj beats Ballkani at home, Slavia is finished in Europe.
The match also had repercussions in the streets of Pristina, where the match was played. As usual, some Slavia supporters lost their scarves or other club-themed items.
However, the problems should have been much bigger and although there is no further information in the public domain, according to several statements it is clear that the Kosovo fans did not act with kid gloves.
