In the French Ligue 1, the title is more or less decided, but PSG fans certainly do not want to see their team lose big. Moreover, after still not having survived their Champions League elimination.
Just after being eliminated from the Champions League, PSG beat Bordeaux 3-0 on home soil, but it can’t be said that the fans celebrated the win. Lionel Messi, Neymar and co. were booed, even after scoring a goal.
On Sunday, however, it was the Parisian side that lost 0:3 to Monaco. Fortunately for PSG, it was on home soil. The team was missing Messi due to illness, but Mbappé and Neymar started in the starting line-up.
Coach Mauricio Pochettino described the result of the match as unacceptable, he was particularly disappointed with the way his charges entered the game.
“At this level we cannot afford to start the game the way we did. We can be happy that we were only 0-1 down at half time, it could have easily been 0-3. It’s unacceptable,” he said in a post-match interview.
“Obviously, what happened in the Champions League did a lot of damage. The team must distance itself from that. It’s preventing us from giving our best performance,” Pochettino admitted.
Now, however, club football faces a national break. The PSG coach believes this will help the players to change their mentality and represent the jersey they wear responsibly.
